Top 10 Travelling Tips

Here are our Top 10 tips for travelling!

  • Split your clothes!

If you are travelling as a couple, or even as a family, it’s always a good idea to split your clothes across all of your cases. This gives you a better chance of everyone having something to wear, should something happen to one of your suitcases.

Even better still, if you can fit one outfit, and swimsuit each in your hand luggage, then that is an even better option. You always keep your hand luggage with you, so no one will be naked if all of your suitcases don’t make it to your destination!

  • Always pack essentials in your hand luggage.

Pack spare wipes, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a hair brush, mini body wash, mini deodorant, sunglasses, phone chargers, and any other essentials you might need in your hand luggage. Contact lenses, any medicine, and a mini sun tan lotion if you are going somewhere warm are also a good idea.

Being able to brush your teeth and feel clean after being on a plane for hours, and being able to charge your phone, can do wonders to your mood, even if your bags are nowhere to be found.

  • Always ‘roll’ your clothes

Rolling your clothes when packing is a great space saver, allowing you to pack more into your case! Rolling your clothes rather than folding also makes your clothes less likely to pick up many creases!

  • Always check the requirements needed to get in to your destination country

Some countries require you to have a visa before entering, and others have a minimum number of months left on your passport before it expires. You don’t want to be stopped at customs because you haven’t met all of the requirement!

  • Don’t over pack

Lay out all the clothes you are thinking of packing, and then try to downsize it by a third if possible! A few well-chosen accessories can add variety to your outfits

  • Make use of the small clear bags at security

If you often wear a watch or a bangle, it is a good idea to stash them into the small clear bags for 100ml liquids that you find at security.

After going through the metal detectors you can simply grab the bag and the rest of your things, and head out of the security area before putting them back on. No rushing required!

  • Always pack a universal travel adapter.

It is always a good idea to travel with a universal travel adapter plus a charging cable in your hand luggage, so you can definitely charge your phone.

  • Breathing room

Make sure that you leave some room in your case when packing, undoubtedly you will pick up some souvenirs and other bits on your travels and you don’t want to have to buy a brand-new case on holiday!

  • Make your luggage stand out

When choosing what luggage to take on holiday, it is a good idea to pick something that is quite distinguishable, so you can pick it out of the crowd. If you already have your luggage, consider wrapping a handle with some fun interesting ribbon, a brightly coloured scrunchie or a strap specifically made for suitcases.

  • Check out your mobile network’s policy on data roaming

It is a good idea to check the costs of using your 4G abroad, you don’t want to come home with a suntan and huge bill! Depending on the cost, it might be a better idea to switch it off until you are home, and just use WiFi networks whilst on holiday.
